QUITE AN HONOR FROM THE UTAH SENATE Posted- Sunday June 21, 2009 Before moving to New Orleans I was the Communications Guru for the Utah State Senate. While I primarily worked for the Republican Majority, my focus was to get out the message of the entire body. Before joining the Senate I would rip its members a new one quite regularly on KSL Newsradio where I hosted the Nightside Project. They figured they might as well get someone who'll be an honest broker when it comes to advice and I hope I did just that. This was quite an honor for a Utah boy whose Utah History grades weren't that great! Somewhere I hope my parents and grandparents are looking down with pride. Neda. The defining moment of the Iranian Revolution 2009 Posted- Sunday June 21, 2009 An email explaining the incident: "At 19:05 June 20th Place: Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi St. and Salehi st. A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim's chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes. The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St. The film is shot by my friend who was standing beside me. Please let the world know." The Whole World is Watching! Posted- Sunday June 21, 2009 The whole world is indeed watching. And thank God we are still stunned by the cruelty that a dictatorship can unleash. It would be sad to just shake our head. The latest just now on CNN -as of this posting- news of a 7 year old being beaten by govt. thugs. As for the President being timid, as some politicians are saying, I think the word is responsible. ANY President must be measured in tone in actions to avoid an escalation of violence. In fact you can look back in history and see both Republican and Democrats in the White House doing what they MUST do a leader- be responsible. The dictators in Iran want to make this about the U.S. It is not. For Obama to take agressive action as some are calling for could result in the deaths of thousands. Sad to see people wanting to play politics with peoples lives. A man called our show and said he was going to kill himself or go out in a firefight with cops. Program Director Jim Fisher was filling in for Producer Amy this morning and he took the call. CLICK HERE for the full story on NOLA.COM. We were reminded this morning of the trust you place in us and we don't take it lightly. We are also grateful for the help and compassion shown to this man by the New Orleans Police Dept. and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Dept. The man was not charged with a crime and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Hit the player below to hear the message that I sent out to the man to call us back. Thank God he did. -MICHAEL CASTNER NEWER POSTS © 2010 Michael Castner All rights reserved. Use of this web site constitutes acceptance of the content. |
