MICHAEL CASTNER BIOGRAPHY
Michael's career has spanned the spectrum of news, entertainment and politics. He comes back home to Portland after hosting the nationally syndicated The Daily Wrap from the Wall Street Journal Radio Network. The show originated from New York City and was heard on almost 200 stations (including KEX).
Castner hosted the Morning Show on WRNO FM in New Orleans for Clear Channel and the afternoon show on Newsradio 1150 WJBO in Baton Rouge. He also anchored the news for Clear Channel's number one talk station KFI in Los Angeles. Before the move to Louisiana, Castner was the host of Bonneville International's trendsetting Nightside Project which was heard in Salt Lake City,Washington D.C. and Phoenix.
Prior to that Michael was a host on the E! Channel. During the 15 years he aired on E! Michael covered the red carpet and hosted his own talk show. Michael joined E! after a stint as London bureau chief for Entertainment Tonight.
He covered the White House and State Department for Tribune Broadcasting and then went on to serve as press adviser to then congressional candidate Joseph P. Kennedy II. He has also served as Communications Guru for the Utah State Senate and regularly advised political candidates.
Castner not only talks about the issues, but he gets involved. In 2008, while in Utah, Castner pushed for what he called "The Puppy Torture" bill, making animal abuse a felony statewide. Castner received a standing ovation on the floor of the Utah Senate for his efforts to get the bill passed. It was signed into law by Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr. More recently, on WRNO-FM Castner hosted a series of shows on cyber-bullying. This led Castner to ask for a law addressing the issue in Louisiana schools. After Castner testified before House and Senate committees the bill passed unanimously. It was signed into law by Governor Bobby Jindal. Most recently Castner persuaded Washington Governor Chris Gregoire to send a letter to New Jersey Governor Chris Christy detailing her change of opinion on marriage equality.
Michael was the recipient of a National Press Foundation Fellowship Grant and has won awards from the Texas Associated Press for Best Investigative Reporting and Feature Reporting.
In addition, Castner is an accomplished photographer. He is represented by WireImage/Getty Images, the leading digital photographic press agency and wire service. His images have appeared in publications worldwide including TV Guide, Hollywood Reporter, Sports Illustrated, AOL, New York Post, MSN, Teen Vogue, Soap Opera Digest, Soap Opera Weekly and Soaps In Depth.
He was once in the Hollywood Christmas Parade with Mario Lopez and Screech from Saved by the Bell. Don't ask.
